Going home to the beginning of a new eternal life with Jesus is what Alden Kelley always strived for in his daily life. Minister Alden Delorean Kelley departed this earth on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital DeLima Campus in Henderson, NV. Born March 1, 1983 at Columbian Presbyterian Hospital located in New York, New York, Alden was the fifth eldest son of the late Ethel Pearl Kelley Roach and the late Hezekiah Roach, Jr. Alden, oftentimes a quiet and shy individual, was nevertheless given the opportunity to touch and impact so many lives with his sweet and gentle spirit. Whenever a person came into contact with Alden, they immediately felt comforted in his presence.
Alden lived and worked towards a life of holiness and righteousness in the sight of God. He was an avid church attendee and devoted to the Lord Jesus every day. Alden was a faithful man of God who was truly passionate about Jesus and fully convicted to live out the Apostles doctrine, believing in One God, One baptism, and One way. He would oftentimes read Bible scriptures and then mediate upon the Word, waiting for Jesus to enlighten him with understanding. Alden was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost in 2002 while attending True Apostolic Church. In July 2004, Alden helped to establish Glorious Apostolic Church under the leadership of his brother, Elder Andrea Kelley. Alden worked faithfully in many capacities, including church secretary, Sunday School teacher, and associate minister. In December 2009, Alden began attending Broken Vessel Apostolic Church under the leadership of his fatherinlaw, Pastor James Norman. Aside from his church involvement, Alden enjoyed listening to music and relaxing at home with family. Minister Alden had a wonderful sense of humor, and he would often be seen laughing and joking with family and friends.
Alden attended Stamford High School in Stamford, CT and graduated in 2001. Immediately thereafter, he enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas UNLV and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2005. He had intentions of one day attending Law School or becoming more active in politics. While attending UNLV, Alden was the recipient of numerous awards and was inducted into several scholarship programs, such as the Ronald McNair Scholars Program and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
After graduating from UNLV, Alden found employment at Sinclair, a local convenience store and gas station where he continued to work until his death. Alden believed that his time at Sinclair was commissioned by God for him to serve as a witness and to tell many customers and colleagues about the greatness of Jesus Christ in his life. One of the many ways in which he exemplified this was by walking to work with his headphones on listening to good ol traditional gospel songs while carrying his Bible in hand.
As the saying goes, behind every good man is a good woman. Alden was blessed to meet a young, passionate, and devoted young woman of God, Kaylee Leyn. Alden met Kaylee in church, and the two began to talk and became good friends in 2008. Alden and Kaylee dated for over two years before he married her. Alden married his best friend and first true love, Kaylee Leyn, on May 11, 2010. As husband and wife, Alden and Kaylees marriage was filled with love and laughter as they enjoyed many special, memorable moments together. He would often call Kaylee pet names such as love muffin, sugar plum, and peach cobbler. From the beginning of their union, they established the foundation of their relationship on the principle of God first and each other second.
Alden is survived by his wife, Kaylee Leyn Kelley and stepdaughter Kayona Joyce Kay of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by his five brothers and their wives, respectively: Sensei Antrone and Kenecia Kelley of Shelton, C.T. Elder Andrea and Zeneta Kelley of Las Vegas, N.V. Staff Sergeant Adrian and Margaret Peggy Kelley of Richmond, V.A. Drs. Algernon and Amanda Kelley of Rochester, N.Y. and Averill Kelley of Las Vegas, N.V. His fatherinlaw and motherinlaw, Pastor James and Sister Georgina Norman of Las Vegas, NV, also survive him. Lastly, he is also survived by his one and only niece, Makayla Pearl Kelley. He leaves behind a host of many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends who will all miss Alden dearly. Rest In Peace, Minister Kelley
