Alfred "Al" DiMeo

Alfred DiMeo, 88, of Las Vegas passed away at his home on Wednesday June 12, 2013. He was born June 6, 1925, in Brooklyn N.Y. to Lorenzo and Concetta DiMeo. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After which he happily raised a family of six with his beloved wife, Frances, in East Meadow, Long Island. A retiree of Pfizer and United Airlines, we all knew the stock market was his real job. He moved to Las Vegas and has lived there for more than 20 years.
While residing in Las Vegas he became an amputee and was active in the Las Vegas chapter. He also frequented Planet Fitness Health Club and inspired many.
He loved good Italian food especially sesame seed cookies and broccoli rabe and was famous for complimenting the cook by saying, that tastes like more. He started every meal with Mangiare and would end each meal encouraging his family to soak up every last drop of tomato sauce on their plates with their Italian bread. He planned his wedding in a week, was an avid coin collector, and never missed sending a birthday card to any of his children or grandchildren. He was a fierce rummy card player and vacationed around the world. He enjoyed sharing stories of living through the great depression selling ice and his first job as a soda jerk. Most importantly, he never missed an opportunity to tell his family that he loved them and was proud of them.
Alfred was preceded by his wife Frances and his daughter Linda Cenkner. He is survived by his: sister Theresa children Concetta, Antoinetta, Cynthia, Lawrence, and Frances 13 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and many loving relatives on the East Coast. Alfred was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be missed by all.
