Amber Jean Vazquez was born Nov. 6, 1978 in Payson, Arizona to Bradley Powell and Cherie Cloudt. She passed away at her home in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 2021, due to a seizure. Amber had been an honor student all through her school days and when she graduated high school at 17, she opened a successful pet store in Ketchikan, Alaska instead of heading to college right away. She loved animals and was always surrounded by her pets, whether they were dogs, parrots, cats, or even reptiles. She was always kidding about having a rescue farm where she would take in anything that needed a home. Her father worked for the government and since the family moved all over the country, Amber gathered friends that she stayed in contact with until her passing. Amber loved everyone she met, and she was a best friend and confidant to many. She loved collecting succulents for her garden and gathering fossils and rocks. Amber loved to travel, Ireland being her favorite spot, and had planned to go to Egypt next year. She also had lived for a time in Okinawa.
Amber graduated from Grand Canyon College in Phoenix with a Bachelors's Degree in History and then went on to get a Master’s Degree in World History with certifications in Middle Eastern History and Women’s Issues. She loved taking classes and aspired to get a Ph.D. in History. At the time of her death, she was working for Donley Publishing, helping build customer-friendly websites, as well as a member of the Customer Success Team at Misfits Market. Working two full-time jobs would have been stressful for anyone but Amber loved staying busy.
Amber is survived by her mother, Cherie Cloudt, father, Bradley Powell (Anna), brother Travis Powell (Catherine), long-time partner Chris Rhodes, and son Dre Rhodes who is in the Navy. She will be missed by her family, her three dogs, her co-workers, and all her friends.
