The family of Amelia Serra Raffo sadly announces her passing on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the age of 84 in Henderson, NV. Amelia was the fourth of nine siblings born in Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines. She graduated from Feati University and later became a professor of Chemistry there. Her adventurous spirit led her to relocate to the United States at the age of 34, where she received certificates of achievement in medical technology and chemical engineering. Throughout her years, she loved to travel, and her many trips included the western national parks, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, England, France, and other European countries on a Mediterranean cruise. Amelia also loved sports, especially tennis and golf, and she was a lifelong Lakers fan.
Amelia will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Joyce Raffo, son-in-law, Peter Meringolo, grandchildren, Nicolas, Luke, and Mark Meringolo, sister, Connie Maglalang, and brother-in-law, Silvestre Maglalang. She is also fondly remembered by her brothers, Ignacio and Joe Serra, sister-in-law, Liza Serra, ex-husband, John Raffo, and many nieces and nephews. Amelia joins her parents, Ignacio and Delfina Serra, brothers, Fernando and Danilo, and sisters, Emma, Elsa, and Siony in eternal rest.
A gathering will be held at 9:30am on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89119. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated afterwards at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Henderson, NV. Memorial donations in memory of Amelia may be made to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation at donate.bbrfoundation.org.
