Annette May Hendrix

Annette Hendrix has passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at the age of 99.
She passed away peacefully at her home of almost 60 years in Las Vegas. Antoinette May Torello was born to immigrant parents in Jackson County, Missouri on December 15, 1920. Her parents were Joseph Torello and Pearl Fuqua. Her mother passed shortly after her birth. At this time she went to live with her Aunt and her Grandmother, where she continued to live until her marriage. She was an only child. 
She was graduated at the age of 16 from Central High School in Kansas City in 1936, she began working for Dyer Tool and Dye Co. In 1946 she married her husband Anthony (Tony) Hendrix also from Kansas City, Missouri. After owning a service station for a few years; they moved to Las Vegas in 1954. Following having two children she began volunteering at Divine Providence Variety Day Care. She helped the sisters of the Holy family in many ways. Some of these ladies were friends for life. Annette worked at the Pepsi-Cola company for several years before beginning her many years in the insurance industry. In 1964 she was a Clerical supervisor at Allstate Insurance where she remained until going to work at Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in 1977. During her time at Paul Revere, she became Secretary of  Nevada Underwriters association. She made many new friends in the Insurance industry. She retired in 1993, at the age of 72. She wasn't retired long when she began volunteering at Desert Springs Hospital where she became the secretary of the Desert Springs Volunteer Organization which met monthly. After breaking her ankle on a fishing excursion in Utah with her husband and son, she began volunteering at the neighborhood grade school, which she loved doing. She did this for several years. Her task was to read to the young children, but she often said, they liked to ask questions instead.
Annette is preceded in death by her husband Anthony (1997), her parents, three half-brothers, as well as many relatives.
Annette is survived by her daughter Toni Ann (Tony) Barilla, and her son Edgar (Pepe) Hendrix (Fiance Wendi Staheli), Her two grandchildren Anthony (Kayla) Barilla and Annette Hartmann (Jeff) Gadd, as well as a step-granddaughter Heidi Hunt. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren Anthony IV and Carmine Barilla, Christopher and Allison Hartmann-Gadd. As well as two step-great-grandchildren. Rikky Haws and Seth Gadd. All of her great-grandchildren referred to her as "Grandma with the white hair". Everyone of them always wanted to go to Gram's house where there surely would be a sweet or two. Besides Grams played games with them, let them get dirty, and made them feel special.
Due to COVID-19, we are unable to have a Mass, Rosary, or Visitation. Annette will be laid to rest  Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at 2:00 pm with a graveside service handled by Davis Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
