Anthony "Tony" Ligara

June 3, 1944 — February 26, 2019

Tony was born in Tarnow, Poland and immigrated to America when he was just 4 years old. His family settled in Chicago where he learned English while attending St. Helen's parish school before entering Gordon Tech. It was in high school that he met the love of his life, Susan, who became his loving wife for 53 years.

Tony served in the Army in Korea and Vietnam and made his career in the food distribution industry. He managed produce departments as well as food stores for many years before his retirement in 1998, when he and Susan moved to Maui, Hawaii. In 2012 they returned to the mainland and settled in Henderson, Neveda.

Tony's health received a tough challenge in late 2017 when he lost his leg to diabetes. He fought hard to rehab and was on his way back until open heart surgery last month resulted in a very painful series of post operative setbacks that ended in his death. Arrangements are being made for the internment of Tony's ashes at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
