Antonio Franciscus Curry

September 26, 1975 — July 3, 2019

Antonio Franciscus Curry was born on September 26, 1975, in Detroit, Michigan.  Believe it or not, the Big Man was actually born a premature infant, weighing only 1.5 pounds at birth!  As we all know, he more than made up for that small stature during his very full life.  Antonio attended St. Mary's High School where he was a football star, earning numerous statewide accolades.  He relocated to Las Vegas shortly thereafter and worked for the City of Las Vegas for over 19 years.  Antonio Curry was a very skilled heavy equipment operator, who worked on numerous city beautification projects that are readily visible throughout the Las Vegas valley.  He took great pride in his workmanship and could readily point out many structures that he had built in our community.

Antonio was a steady fixture in the motorcycle community and joined with  Undisputed Motorcycle Club where he served as Vice President of the Las Vegas chapter at the time of his passing.  His moniker was "Big Shaq".  Few knew his birth name, but his nickname, his stature and his reputation were known nationwide. Big Shaq could settle an argument with his straightforward words, his booming voice, or his very heavy hands, all of which garnered respect. Antonio "Big Shaq" Curry was known as a gentle giant, who was always ready with a joke, a kind word, or a smile. His large stature was belied by his kind, giving nature, known to all those who were blessed to be in his presence.

Antonio Curry, met his wife, Sonya Aikels-Curry in 1994.  Their storybook romance began with dating in 1997 and culminated in marriage on March 12, 2005.  Their union produced two beautiful daughters, Victoria Imani Curry and Valentina Iyanna Curry who will always be Antonio's pride and joy. Antonio was a loving husband, great father, strong protector and generous provider. His daughters will continue to grow under his loving shadow as "Daddy's Little Angels", as he loved to call them.

Antonio Franciscus Curry is survived by wife Sonya Aikels-Curry, daughters Victoria Imani Curry, and Valentina Curry of Las Vegas, Nevada. His parents, mother Nancy Curry of Las Vegas, father JD Morgan of Detroit, Michigan, and step-mother Constance Morgan of Detroit, Michigan. He was also loved by a myriad of extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins who are in attendance today.
