If love alone could have kept her here, she would be with us forever.
With great sorrow, the Allen Family is heartbroken to announce the loss of our beautiful mother and grandmother,
Barbara Ann Allen,
Born in Grabill, Indiana to the late Donald E. and Marie (Fietz) Miller, Barbara graduated from Woodburn High School in 1959.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughters, Kimberley Kay "Kim" (Mike) Allen-Brelsford, and Marla Marie Allen of Pine Ridge, Texas. Cherished granddaughters, Madisen Elizabeth Kinner and Taylor Kay Kinner both of Corvallis, Oregon. Much loved Brother, Jim (Linda) Miller of Fremont, Indiana. Along with many loved nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Robert D. Allen. Brothers, Donald E. Miller (Donna), Richard Miller (Edie), and Robert Dale Miller (Barbara). Sister, Virginia Goeglein (Eugene).
Friends introduced Barbara to Robert D. Allen "Bob" and the two became inseparable, marrying December 5,1959. They made their own path out west, first to Arizona eventually bringing their young family to the booming town they loved, Las Vegas.
Barbara worked several years for the Binion family of Binion's Horseshoe & Casino as Assist Controller, leaving to join forces with Bob at the company they started.
They created Allen & Associates, Inc., with a phone book and a phone. Through sheer determination and fortitude they built the oldest locally owned and operated search and placement firm in Las Vegas, starting in 1976.
Together, with an internal staff, the business flourished. There was a lot of laughter, fine dining and hard work for this family which only cemented them together even more tightly. They worked, hung out on weekends and vacationed together!
They brought their youngest daughter, Marla, into the business in 1991, to grow the search division placing executives within gaming and development industry leaders in Las Vegas and abroad. Kim Allen, their eldest daughter was brought in by Marla in 2006 to direct ATS - Allen Temporary Staffing providing temporary and contract personnel. Barbara was proud of the business created and retired in 2000 as her business remained.
Barb and Bob loved each other deeply and were a great team, it was very rare to find one without the other. At Bob's passing, they were married 49 years. Barbara passed away on what would have been their 65th wedding anniversary.
Summers were spent at their vacation home in Fremont, Indiana. Barbara was well-known on her lane at Jimmerson Lake for the many beautiful flowers she would plant every year.
Barbara was truly vibrant, smart, beautiful, energetic and spirited, with a magnetic smile who made life fun just by being with her.
Her granddaughters were her greatest joy, and she loved them beyond measure. She attended the college graduation of her eldest granddaughter, Madisen at Oregon State University in 2023, We know in spirit she will be with us when her youngest, Taylor Kay will graduate next year also from Oregon State University.
Her daughters, Kim and Marla will deeply miss everything about her, her voice, her laugh, her always positive outlook, and encouraging advice.
In 2013, she married Verne Lewton. Verne said, "God sent me an "Angel" and for 11 years they shared fun times, laughter, red solo cups and friendship with old and new friends.
Barbara left this world surrounded by love, we now entrust her with our Lord and Savior. In John 14:1-2, Jesus assures us and gives words of comfort. "Let not your heart be troubled": "Believe in God, believe also in me In my Father's house there are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you: For I go and prepare a place for you".
May Barbara's life inspire us all to enjoy precious moments with whom we love, connect with people that fill our lives, and live life with enthusiasm. Always look your best and look forward to tomorrow, smile more!, surround yourself with beauty, plant flowers where you can and love deeply.
There will be a family and friends gathering this summer in Payne, Ohio to wish this beautiful woman a beautiful journey after a life well lived. We will miss you forever.
