Berniece Adrienne Williams

October 17, 1919 — May 4, 2015

Berniece Adrienne Williams, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on May 4th, 2015 in Las Vegas Nevada, where she had resided for the past 12 years. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Berniece was an adoring wife, a loving mother, a brilliant educator and an avid gardener. She was married 42 years to the love of her life, Ernest Vincent Williams. Of that union, she became the mother of Sharon B Williams (deceased), Jacquelyn D. Fesolai, Michael R. Williams, Ernest V.J. Williams, Kenneth S. Williams (deceased), Quentin D. Williams, and David W. Williams. She also was the beloved grandmother to 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Born in Toledo, Ohio on October 17th , 1919, to Edmonia Edwards and Lacey Crawford. Her family included one sister Delores Hassell (deceased) and four brothers: Roger Crawford (deceased) Lacey Crawford (deceased) Jefferson Jackson (deceased) and Donald Jackson. Berniece attended the University of Toledo where she received her Bachelors of Education in June 1956. She taught for the Toledo board of Education as a kindergarten teacher at Grove Patterson and Old Orchard elementary schools. After years of teaching, she would return to school to obtain a Masters in Education, also from the University of Toledo in 1972. She received a number of awards and accolades, including The Ohio House of Representatives award for Education and Civic Responsibility. In addition to receiving one of the states most prestigious awards, she was named teacher of the Year in 1972.

Active in a number of areas she was a life long member of Third Baptist Church and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She was an avid gardener and a skilled expert in knowing all the names of each flower. She loved the outdoors and grew especially fond of the bright shinning clear blue skies of Las Vegas. In her younger days Berniecewas quite fond of dancing. She especially loved the cha cha, bop as well as other dances from the 60's. Berniece was very poised but simplistic in her nature. She was able to find great joy from the simple pleasures of life. She was always happy especially when she was able to indulge in chocolate nuts, and a Pepsi. She truly was a remarkable person and will be greatly missed.

To her family she will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, confidante, friend and an extremely great mother. The family also wishes to thank all of those who loved and cared for her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 1:00pm at Davis Funeral Home 6200 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
