Betty Jo Houston

Memorial services for Betty Jo Houston, 85, of Lamesa will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday December 22, 2012 at Northside Baptist Church in Lamesa with Roy Byrd officiating. Private interment will take place in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Betty passed away on Monday December 17, 2012 in Lubbock.


She was born on August 6, 1927 in Lamesa to Richard C. and Dovie Smith Hill.

Betty married R.E. Houston on August 8, 1947 in Lamesa. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2012. They were married for 65 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents a daughter, Kim Dowlen a grandson, Tommy Sparrow and 4 brothers.

Betty worked at Lamesa Federal Savings and Loan for over 40 years. She was a very active member at Bryan Street Baptist Church and Northside Baptist Church having served as a secretary and Sunday School Teacher at both.

Betty is survived by 2 sons, Craig Houston and wife Carol of Hico, TX, and David Houston and wife Donna of Artesia, NM, a soninlaw, John Dowlen of Irving, TX 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of ones choice.
