Billy "Buddy Papa" Keener

BILLY KEENER Billy D. ""Buddy"" Keener, 77, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015. Billy was born Dec. 22, 1937, in Fairmont, W Va., to parents Charles and Olive Keener. He came to Nevada in 1998 and was the apartment manager at Rancho Arms for ten years. Prior to that Billy worked as a supervisor for many years for Urich Oil Company and James White Oil Company. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the Desert Sage Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. ""Buddy"" or ""Papa"" will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Billy was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Keener in 1997. He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Sally A. Keener; sons, William D. Keener of Aurora, Mo., Robert B. Keener of Las Vegas, and Charles L. (Nicole) Keener of Victorville, Calif.; brothers, Arda Keener of Salinas, Calif., John Keener and Larry ""Jack"" Keener, both of Fairmont, and Donald Keener of Orange Park, Fla.; sisters, Sarah Bloebaum of Vincennes, Ind. and Doris Mowrey of Fairmont; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Friday, April 24, with services following, both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Billy's memory.
