Bonnie Jean Davis of Las Vegas passed away on January 29, 2014 at the age of 82. Bonnie was born in Pasadena, California to Barney Zigtema and Rena Slingerland on March 3, 1931. She moved with her parents to Las Vegas shortly after her birth and was very proud of being a lifelong resident of Las Vegas. She attended the 5th Street Elementary School and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1948. She went on to college and graduated with a Registered Nursing Degree from the Good Samaritan Hospital nursing program in Phoenix, Arizona. Bonnie worked at the Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital now UMC and as a nurse for several private physicians before becoming the student campus nurse at UNLV. After enjoying several years of retirement she returned to work to help start Davis Funeral Homes, with the family. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile El Giza Chapter 139, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Assistance League of Las Vegas. Bonnies membership at Spanish Trail Country Club was her favorite club membership as she spent many days there playing bridge and enjoying the social company of her friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by Richard A. Davis, her husband of 42 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son, Charles C.K. Davis. Bonnie is survived by her sons Gary Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada and Alan Davis of Tomah, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Nebron of Henderson, Nevada and her 4 Grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Dustin Davis, Crystal Davis all of Las Vegas, Nevada and Glenn Davis of Tomah, Wisconsin. Additionally she is survived by her 5 Great Grandchildren, Alexis Davis, Zoe Davis, Lincoln Davis all of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ethyn Davis and Aria Davis of Tomah, Wisconsin. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held at The Crossing Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 10:00 am. The church is located at 7950 W. Windmill Lane. A Reception will be held immediately following at Spanish Trail Country Club, 5050 Spanish Trail Lane. Private entombment will be at Davis Memorial Park.
