Brent Harrison, age 70, passed away in Henderson, NV on September 21, 2019. He was born December 31st, 1948 in Macklin, Sask. to Ray and Erma (Monkhouse) Harrison. After many moves with his father’s job, the family settled in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Brent attended Westminster Elementary school. He took piano lessons and at age 10 was good enough to be awarded a place at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. But he was so young that the family wasn’t ready for him to be so far from home. Then at the age of 11 the family moved to Racine, WI for his father’s new job running a home center. There he attended Starbuck Junior High and Park High School. Later he graduated from Carthage College with a degree in business. Following his brother, Blaine, to St. Louis, MO, in 1971, he worked at a building center and met Vicky Adams, to whom he was briefly married. After the divorce, he moved back to Wisconsin for a time before heading to Rapid City, SD in 1976, to run the cabinet store his family had opened. Feeling like he wanted to expand his horizons, he went back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1985 to get a master’s degree in communications with a focus on “Interpersonal Relations from a Business Perspective”. Then it was back to Rapid City, SD where he went to work as an administrator for Western Dakota Vocational School. He met Cindy Kruse in 1987 and they later married. They moved together to Southern California in 1988. Two years later they moved to Las Vegas, NV as Brent was hired to run a cabinet store, called Kitchen Club Warehouse. Within 2 years he decided to open his own kitchen cabinet store, Canac Kitchens of Las Vegas, later called, The Cabinet Source. His focus was selling cabinets to residential builders and developers. He loved business and thrived as he grew a successful enterprise. The recession hit hard and by 2011, he felt it was time to close the business and retire. Several health issues had complicated his life, but overall, he felt well suited to retirement.
His work life didn’t allow time for many hobbies but he was a real car buff. His generous nature benefited many charities including Safe House, Boys and Girls Club and Serving Our Kids.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, a brother, Blaine Harrison and wife Terry, nieces and nephews Ashley Harrison, Tyler Harrison, Clayton Knorr, Jessica Kruse and Walter Kruse and many extended family.
