Jan North/Brian M. Knapton

Age 67, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at her condo. Jan was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 22, 1956, the child of Aloysius Knapton and Helenmarie Hazlett Knapton.

Jan graduated from Christ the King Catholic High School in 1974, in Philadelphia, PA. Jan had starring roles in plays in her Junior and Senior years in Hello Dolly and Thalia & Melpomene, Greek Muses of Comedy and Tragedy.

Jan came to Las Vegas in 1976 and was a female impersonator at Boy-Lesque on the strip. Her famous actresses were Carol Channing and Rita Hayward. She designed her own costumes for the show. She worked as a seamstress for a tailor shop for several years and then went to work at Weinsteins Jewelry Store and retired in 2021.

Although Jan retired from the bright lights she managed to design and sew many costumes for her friends who still are entertainers on the strip.

Jan is survived by her sisters, Helenmarie Poulton of Southampton, NJ, Lynnmarie Kuntz of Morgantown, WV, and several nieces and nephews in addition to her parents. Jan was preceded in death by her brother David A. Knapton of Fairmont, WV.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Davis Funeral Home in Las Vegas, Nevada
