Obituary of Carl Brackins, Jr.

Carl Brackins, Jr. passed away on December 4, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he resided for the past 12 years. He was born in Los Angeles, California on November 5, 1945 to Carl Brackins, Sr. and Farella Johnson. Carl had a long 35-year career in the aerospace industry, where he worked as an engineer in the calibration lab for Hughes Aircraft Company, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin, respectively. One of Carl’s greatest joys was exercising. Anyone who crossed his path was sure to receive an invitation to the gym or some type of nutrition advice. In all social circles, Carl was widely known for his warm and friendly smile. Regardless of whether he knew a person, he would always make them feel welcome and seen in his presence. Aside from his daughters, the other main lady in Carl’s life was “Felicia,” his red sports car. Felicia was his prized possession. Everyday Carl would be sure to keep Felicia waxed, polished, and shiny so that she would remain the topic of conversation among his friends and other social groups. Among his many attributes and magnetic personality, Carl was a loving father, grandfather, and proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his three daughters, Danyell, Kourtney, and Kandace; brother, Leslie; sisters, Rhonda, Pamela and Margie; two granddaughters, Daysha and Kiyah; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Carl will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on February 1, 2023 at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada. Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home.
