Charleen Lucille Patterson

On August 21, 1945 in Chicago, IL God blessed the union of Charles and Thelma Preston with their first child Charleen Lucille Preston. Charleen would become the oldest of 10 children.

Upon the passing of her father Charleen, along with her mother and 3 other siblings, moved to Los Angeles CA in 1953. At the age of 12 Charleen was baptized at the 2nd Timothy Baptist Church in Compton, CA under the leadership of Rev. Cunningham. Charleen begin her career as a church musician playing for the Sunday school.

In March 1964 Charleen married Charles Stewart. To this union three sons were born: Marcel, DuVaughn, and DuShawn. Yes, the younger two were twins.

In 1971 Charleen begin her career in banking working for the Security Pacific Bank in downtown Los Angeles. Her career in banking would span over 39 years. In 1978 the Stewart family relocated to Las Vegas, NV where Charleen worked for Nevada Savings and Loans, Valley Bank and later in her career Well Fargo Bank where she retired in 2010.

In 1987 Charleen married Carl Patterson and relocated to Benton Harbor, MI. In 1989 Carl and Charleen returned to Las Vegas. Shortly after returning to the Las Vegas area Charleen united with the Unity Baptist Church where she served as organist for the early morning worship service and the children's choir. In 2013 Charleen united with the Fountain of Hope A. M.E. church where she became active in the noon day prayer and women's ministry until her health began to fail.

Charleen was preceded in death by her father Charles L. Preston; mother Thelma L. Clinkscales, sons DuShawn Keith and DuVaughn Kevin Stewart, husband Carl Patterson, Sister Marilyn George and Brother Eric L. Preston.

Charleen leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter in love Marcel and Alicia Stewart of Lynchburg, VA. Two grandchildren, Marlisha and Marcus Stewart of Lynchburg, VA. Two sisters Valerie Wilerford (Theodore) Fontana, CA, Franzell Truitt, Sacramento, CA. Five brothers, Merl Preston of Chicago, IL, Roy Clinkscales, San Diego, CA, Wilynn Clinkscales (Veronica ) Corona, CA, Francis Clinkscales (Pam) Sacramento, CA and Lawrence Clinkscales of Bakersfield, CA. She also leaves 21 nieces and nephews and a host of grand nieces and nephews and friends.
