Charles A Belting

Charles Belting, 86, beloved father, was called to his eternal resting place on March 25, 2020. He entered this world on October 31, 1933 in Mishawaka, Indiana, born to Henry and Theatta Belting.

Charles attended Mishawaka High School and joined the US Navy at the age of 17. He served aboard the USS Dashiell, a World War II destroyer from 1951 to 1960. He traveled to Cuba and Northern Europe, patrolled off the coast of Korea during the war. He received the National Service Medal and Korean Service Medal.

While stationed on the East Coast, he met his wife-to-be Doris Appelt and married on November 23, 1957.

From 1964 to 1970 he served aboard the USS Gunston Hall (dock landing Ship) It transported supplies into Vietnam for troop support numerous times. He received the Republic of Vietnam Service Award, Good Conduct Medal and United Nations Service Medal. He Retired from the Navy after 20 years. He then returned to Mishawaka and worked for Bendix Corporation for 20 more years until he retired to Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was active in church, Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion.

Charles has been a resident of Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, NV since 2016. One of his favorite sayings whenever you came to visit was “Welcome Aboard!” Guess the Navy never really left him…He also would always salute a flag whenever he passed by one and did the sign of the cross for every church he passed. It was always an eventful ride in the car with him!

Charles is preceded in death by his wife Doris (June 18, 2007) Also his sisters Eunice, Delores and Lois. And his brother Millard.

Charles is survived by his Daughter Suzanne Krontz and husband Donald Krontz. His son John Charles Belting and wife Eunice Belting. His Grandchildren Chris Krontz, Erika Belting, Camille Belting, and Danielle Belting. 6 Great Grandchildren Kiarra Krontz, Bryon Krontz, Liana Krontz, Jazzlyn Krontz, Caden Krontz and Tate Krontz.

The family of Charles Belting wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Debbie LaMake his caregiver until 2016. And everyone at the Nevada State Veterans Home for the loving care given to our father.
