Charles Roy Darnell, 79, went to be with Jesus, May 23, 2012. Born in Scott County, Va., Aug. 27, 1932, he was one of 11 children. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the Korean War. After serving his country, Charles worked 35 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. After retiring in 1988, he moved to Las Vegas. Having been a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Temple City Council 9128 in California, he transferred to Holy Family Council Las Vegas 7708. There he attained the position of Grand Knight. He later joined the Reverend Theodor Van Skee Assembly 4th Degree, and worked his way up to Navigator. He had the honor of being selected as district deputy, and was a member of the Color Corp. He also had the privilege of serving as the head usher of Holy Family parish for several years, and was active in the American Legion Post 40, where he held several positions. Charles leaves behind his wife, Barbara, of 56 years son, Charles Jr. Debra daughter, Dori Nick grandchildren, Amanda, Evan, Heather, Lily, Victoria, Rebecca and Melissa greatgrandchild, Tanner and his father, Chris and siblings, Juanita Summey, Donny Darnell, Tommy and Bud Darnell, Sue Smith, Verde Frazier, Bob and Bill Ervin. Rosary and viewing will be 6:308:30 p.m., Monday, May 28, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St., Las Vegas. Burial following at Davis Memorial Park.
