Retired Charles Ronald McLean, 76, of Henderson, and formerly of Santa Rosa, Calif., passed away peacefully from longterm health complications Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at about 1:42 a.m., while in hospice care at St. Josephs resident facility in Las Vegas. Born in Richmond, Calif., Feb. 3, 1935. Mr. McLean was the son of the late Charles and Marjorie McLean. He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served 20 years from Korea to Vietnam. He was especially proud of his unit in Danang, Vietnam, The Gunfighters, 366 TFW. For his service to country, he was awarded numerous citations. Mr. McLean was a registered member with VFW Post 3848, located in Henderson, since 1992. Mr. McLean continued his service to country in a civilian capacity as a scientific engineeranalyst, working on projects for the betterment and future of the world as a whole. He retired officially at age 66 from, EGG, Special Projects Division. specializing in higher mathematics, radar technology, computer sciences and astronomy. The patriarch of his family, Mr. McLean is survived by his wife, 37 years, Mrs. Katherine McLean of Henderson. Their combined children from two previous marriages, Robert McLean of Kingman, Ariz., Barbara McLean of Las Vegas, Bonnie Aplin of Lenexa, Kan., Rebecca Stout of Henderson, and son, Eric Michael McLean of Santa Rosa, Calif. five grandchildren, Lori, Christopher, Summer, Janise Joshua and two greatgrandchildren, Kiersten and Ashton. Two sisters also survive him, Mrs. Frank Marjorie Smith of Windsor, Calif., and Mrs. William Linda Kramer of Grants Pass, Ore. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, John Alfa McLean. Mr. McLean is also mourned by numerous family members worldwide as well as, his daughterinlaw, Eva Marie McLean of Kingman and soninlaw, David Aplin of Lenexa his inlaws, all residents of Kingman, Mr. and Mrs. John and Astrid LeVine and Mr. and Mrs. Konrad and Carol Franzen. Friends may call noon2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, with funeral services conducted at 2 p.m., with Rev. Judy Andrews officiating, both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Interment, with full military honors will follow at Davis Memorial Park. The family has suggested donations to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation or the American Cancer Society in Mr. McLeans memory.
