“Abe” as he was known to many, passed away on January 4th, 2020 in Las Vegas Nevada.
He was born near Pioneer, Missouri to Anthony H. and Clara Abramovitz (nee Golkoski) on October 10th, 1932.
Abe grew up on a farm in southwestern Missouri with his family during the Great Depression. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War, but was discharged shortly thereafter. He later joined the Air Force where he served for eight years. He was trained to work on the electrical systems of the fighter jets flown in combat during the Korean War. He was eventually stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas Nevada. While on temporary duty on Long Island, New York, he met his future wife, Marita VanPelt.
They were married at Nellis Air Force Base in July of 1961.
They had two children, Lara and Adam Michael. After leaving the Air Force, Abe worked for various government subcontractors in and around Las Vegas, Nevada as an electronic technician and an audiovisual technician until his retirement. Abe went to technical school and was also in the first year graduating class at Clark County Community College.
In his spare time, he volunteered his skills towards various public works projects.
Abe enjoyed ballroom dancing and collected various antique electronic devices.
Clarence is preceded in death by his wife Marita, parents Anthony and Clara, brother Gene, and sister Louise.
Clarence is survived by daughter Lara Abramovitz of Las Vegas Nevada, son Adam Michael (Alisha) Abramovitz of Sandy Utah, Sisters Pat Roder of Verona Missouri, Sue (Jerry) Ozbun of Kansas City Missouri, Sister in laws Pauline Abramovitz of Jacksonville Arkansas, Harriet Urlaub (Dennis) of Las Vegas, and granddaughter Clara Abramovitz.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020. Followed by funeral services at 11 and burial at noon at Davis Memorial Park at 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas Nevada.
Clarence’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Desert View Senior Living and Compassion Care Hospice for everything they did while he was a resident there.
