Claude ‘Glenn’ Casey, a Checotah resident, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas at the age of 89. He was born on August 25 1935 to Victor & Ollie Casey in Porum Ok. Claude grew up in Porum, OK, graduating from Porum High School. He spent most of his life in Las Vegas before moving to Checotah 18 years ago. Claude married the love of his life Shirley Burkin on Thursday, June 27, 1957. They lived in Las Vegas, NV where he drove a cab from 1960 until his retirement. In Las Vegas he dove a cab from the 1960 to his retirement and boy did he have some stories about the famous and not so famous people he had in his cab. We could be in the middle of nowhere in the country and he would strike up a conversation with someone that had been in his cab. He enjoyed fishing with anyone who would go with him and instill the love in fishing in a few of his kids. He loved gardening and was probably one of the few people with a full on vegie garden in his backyard in the Vegas desert. For fun he enjoyed bowling and attending tournaments that him and his wife would travel for, later in life he slowed down to play some golf and bingo. After his retirement, they moved to Checotah, OK. Claude was active at the Senior Citizens Center, where he enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzles. He enjoyed playing Mexican Train with family and friends. Claude and Shirley loved to travel, they took their children all over the place, there were only 2 states they never made it to.He is survived by his sons, David, Mike, and Richard Casey of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter, Margaret Steele and her husband Brad of Checotah OK; his granddaughters, Rebecca Casey of Colorado, Samantha Woodmansee of Okmulgee OK and Sarah Thomie and her husband Ryan of Las Vegas and grandson, Aaron Casey and his wife Stevee of Colorado; his great grandchildren, Sianna, Samantha, Zelda, Zarina and Zatanna. Claude is also survived by his Sisters Carol and Pat of Bakersfield CA., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ollie; his loving wife of 63 years Shirley Casey; brothers, Charles “Pinky” Casey, Ray Casey and his wife Rollene Casey and sisters, June Lindsey and her husband Lowell, Louise Casey, and Phyllis Casey and Anne Roberson and her husband Bob.
