Clyde L. Needham, 68, of Henderson, passed away from complications of a stroke Friday, October 5, 2012, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson.
Clyde was born in Moss Point, Mississippi, November 1, 1943, to Smylie Needham and Hannah Carter Needham. The third oldest of four siblings, Clyde, Sonny to friends and family, graduated from Magnolia High School at age 16. He earned a BS in education from Jackson State University and a masters in education from Pepperdine University. After teaching in Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, Miss., and Los Angeles, Clyde moved to Las Vegas with his family in 1982. He taught math and science at Washington Opportunity School and Alternative Programs until he retired in 2009.
Music was Clydes first love. Over the years, he sang and played multiple instruments in the bands The Rhythmtones, The Dex, The Double O Souls, and The Magnetic Minds. Clyde also performed for friends and family at reunions, parties and weddings.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife, of 40 years, Kathleen Vereen Needham daughters, LaBonita BowserDawson, LaTisha Needham and Nelandra Anselmo sons, Cedric Needham, Kedric Needham and Ian Needham grandchildren, Hannah Anselmo, Aidan Anselmo, Zianna Needham, Hernando Flowers, Jazmine Payton, Ariana Dawson and DeAndre Dawson and sisters, Leatrice Walker, Eunice Torrence and Nealie Rudolph.
