Cindy Abbott was born December 1, 1952, to Phillip Alma Abbott and Thelma McKnight Abbott in St. George, Utah, which was the closest hospital to her familys home in Mesquite.
However, Cindy lived most of her life in Las Vegas where her family moved in 1960 so that she could attend Variety School, a special school for developmentally disabled children. Later, she graduated from Helen J. Stewart, a school which her mother helped form.
Cindy, born with Down Syndrome, has been a joy and blessing to all with whom she has come in contact. Cindy loved all people, especially children and babies. She enjoyed family and church gatherings.
Cindy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and her favorite song was I Am a Child of God. We sang it often.
She worked at Goodwill, Deseret Industries, and in the garden alongside her mother.
Cindy is survived by her three brothers and five sisters, Sheldon Velene Abbott, Lynn Christine Abbott, Garth Diana Abbott, Gwen Carroll Truscott, Joyce Bill Sansing, Julia Rod Campbell, Kathryn Vin Leavitt, and Phyllis Wynn Stout.
Cindy joined her parents in Heaven Thursday, Febuary 17, 2011. Their reunion must have been glorious. We do not regret her passing just that we must wait so long to see her again.
What is this thing called death This quiet passing in the night Tis not the end, but genesis of better worlds and greater light.
