Cynthia Ann Montoya

September 23, 1957 — July 10, 2020

Cynthia Ann Montoya passed away on Friday July 10th. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to her family and friends who will miss her greatly.

Cindy found her life long career of child education early in her life, a profession she truly enjoyed. Her drive to be the best led her to continue her education in early childhood education at Southern Nevada and UNLV obtaining degrees later in life.

Cindy was born September 23rd 1957, in Colorado to military parents who gave her a life of travel in her early years which lead to meeting life long friends from her many deployments. She also developed a life long love of books, a passion she shared with her sister Teresa who was her book trading partner.

Cindy was preceded in death by both of her grandparents. She was the first born child of Frank (Doris) Montoya and Virginia Locklear. Her sister Karen (Jerry) Schermerhorn, Teresa (Johnny) Quick, Aryan (Javier) Flores and brother Arturo Montoya. Mother to Carrie (Bob) Keller and James (Elyse) Stewart. Grandmother (OG) to  Lilith and Lorelei Stewart and step grandmother to Taylor (Matt) Keller Barron. Aunt to Eva (Keith) Montoya, Jimmy Jacobs, Randy Gardner, Johnny Quick, Javier Flores, Emily Flores and Emma Flores. She also had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Even though she was divorced from her ex-husband James Stewart, they still maintained a friendship and that coupled with the friendship of James's current wife Mari-karine lead to weekly get togethers and joint holiday and birthday celebrations that will be missed.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the college fund set up for the granddaughters. Please make out any check or money orders to Lilith and Lorelei Stewart. They may be mailed to 348 Casmailia Ave, North Las Vegas, NV, 89031.
