David Robert Manke, 83, beloved Uncle, Brother, Son, and Spouse, was called to his eternal resting place on March 1, 2024. He entered this world on July 26, 1940, in Ritzville, WA, born to Albert E and Hazel Manke and raised on the family farm just east of Ritzville with his older brothers Albert (Gerri) and Donald (Becky). David graduated from Ritzville High School in 1958 and entered the US Air Force in 1961 training as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1967.
His love of all things aviation continued as he went to work for Western Airlines (now Delta) and continued for 35 years. He enjoyed traveling around and history whether visiting historical places or reading about them.
After retirement, he continued to read verasiously on all aircraft updates, inventions, and changes and he adopted many a Pomeranian pup to be his best buddy later in life.
He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis "Pet" Manke and his wife Carolyn Myers Manke.
He is survived by his two sisters in law Gerri and Becky, his niece Denise Vickerman (Mike); his nephews Ron Manke(Janet) and Chris Manke as well as several grand nieces and nephews.
David always knew that aviation is proof that given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.
A memorial service will be held on April 24, 2024 at 11am, graveside at Davis Memorial Park.
