David Lee McGinty, 80, of Las Vegas, passed away December 19, 2010. He was born June 7, 1930, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, and was a 65year resident of Nevada.
David was a retired construction pipefitter and a 62year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 525. David was a member of his unions executive board for several years, elected president 19571960, served as business agent 19611964, and elected business manager 19641970.
He married Virginia Harden in Henderson in 1948, and they both graduated Basic High School in 1948.
He loved fishing, reading, Irish historical novel and time with his grandchildren. His family always came first.
He was preceded in death by his and Virginias son, Michael in 1998 parents, Ruth and Carl older brother, Hugh in 1967 and younger brother, Tom in 1995.
David is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Virginia two daughters, Cathy Thomas and Vicky McGinty seven grandchildren, Diane Barney, Chisa Marshall, Bren Leahy, Shawna Leahy, Kate Thomas, Joshua Thomas and Jessica McGinty Hart and seven greatgrandchildren, Courtney Marshall, Connor Marshall, Christian Marshall, Cabe Leahy, Paul Morris, Clyde Morris and Daisy Morris. He is also survived by his brother, Jack McGinty.
Visitation will be 10:3011:30 a.m. Monday, December 27, with services following, both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow at Davis Memorial Park.
