David Lee Rhoads age 84 of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021. Dave was an avid and competitive bowler for many years. For the love of bowling, both Dave and Juliana, his wife, moved to Las Vegas in 2001, where bowling was popular. He was so accomplished with bowling that he literally lost count of the number of 300 games and 800 series accumulated in his lifetime. Not only was he an accomplished bowler, he was an entrepreneur, an innovator, a mentor and a knowledgeable bowling coach. Dave was very fond of knowledge and education. He was also a cowboy and farrier that loved to ride and train horses. He is on his horse Hank now, riding into the sunset. Dave lived his life to the fullest and did so many things only a few of us could imagine. He lived a simple life and was quite content. Dave never had children of his own, but he was a proud father to his stepson Jason McDowell, who was Dave’s prodigy in bowling. Many years were spent by Dave to teach Jason the art of bowling. Tim Smith and Dawn Convay, junior bowlers whom we met in Chico, California in 2000, were also part of our family. Dave is survived by his wife, Juliana, who was always at his side; Jason McDowell, his stepson; Nina Isabella McDowell his granddaughter. Tony Rhoads and his wife Kimberly, nephew and niece; Melissa and Matthew Rhoads, his grandniece and grandnephew; Gloria Weeden sister in law and Steven Armandico, brother in law.
Funeral services will be held July 23, Friday at 2:00pm at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119 with Tim Smith, Minister officiating.
The family of Dave wish to extend our sincere thanks to all of his countless friends and fellow bowlers that made his life special. He will surely be missed by so many.
