Dorothy Teresa Calabrese

Dorothy Teresa Hellman Calabrese, born on August 20, 1945 to Alexander and Helen Hellman. She graduated in 1963 and 4 short years later met the love of her life, John Calabrese in 1967. Dorothy and John married on April 23, 1968. On February 7, 1969 their oldest child, Theresa, was born and on March 5, 1972, their son John was born. The family moved to New Milford, Ct in 1973 and eventually to Las Vegas, NV in 1987.

In the early 1970’s, prior to their move to CT, Dorothy was the President of the Cocker Spaniel Club of Long Island

In the mid-70’s, while living in CT, Dorothy was the brought in and was President of the New Milford PTA and was also Vice President of the Jaycee Woman.

After moving to Las Vegas, and after a career of being a legal assistant, she obtained her paralegal degree in 1992. Soon after, she obtained her real estate license and maintained it for over 10 years.

In the early 2000’s Dorothy was involved with Lifelong Dreams, a former non-profit that taught special needs children and young adults how to dance and sing and to take the “dis” out of disability.

Most recently she has been the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Rising Stars PTA and was Regent to the church’s Catholic Daughters.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Helen Hellman and her son, John Alexander Calabrese.

Dorothy is survived by her Husband, John Calabrese, her daughter Theresa Calabrese Vance, her grandson, Anthony Vance, her Granddaughter, Jessica Vance and her Great Granddaughter, Brooklyn Vance.

Viewing will be at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 Eastern Avenue, on December 28, 2020 from 4pm – 6pm.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 S. Mountain Vista Street, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the reading of the rosary to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Donations to Holy Family Catholic Church is being requested in lieu of flowers.
