Dorothy Delores Holman was born on May 29, 1919 to Stella and Frank Smith in Macomb, Mississippi.
Dorothy moved with her family to Chicago, Illinois at a very young age and graduated from DuSable High School in 1938. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at First Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Reverend Cobbs.
Dorothy married William Holman in 1945 who preceded her in death in 1994. She was employed in the Currency Exchange industry. Fourteen years after retirement in 1996, she relocated to Las Vegas to live with her brother and sisterinlaw.
Auntie, as we fondly called her, went on to be with our Lord on November 8, 2011. As the BELLE of the family, Dorothy was a devoted member of her club, the Gardenia Girls Social Club, she held the positions of President, VP and secretary. It was quite often during their events that we saw her dancing well into the night. Dorothy loved to travel and for many years she went with the Clan Social Club to Memphis, TN. Flying wasnt her favorite mode of travel but she enjoyed reminiscing of the two Caribbean cruises she shared with her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Alma Bowen Smith, her brothers Howard Mary Terry and Wardell Mary Ann Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted family of nieces and nephews: Charlotte Monroe Davis, Carol Priestly, Dorothy Douglas Price, Wardell Smith, Reginald Belinda Smith, Marion Gregory Epps, Irma Smith, Jimmy Smith, Janette Thomas Hayes and Maria Smith. Dorothy will truly be missed by her grand nieces and nephews, her devoted play niece Yvonne and her dear friends Leonora, Jean, Thelma, Leslie, and Vemoria.
