EARL BURTON JR. Beloved father, grandfather and best friend, Earl Steven Burton Jr., of Las Vegas, passed away June 24, 2014. He was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Lester, W.Va., to Earl Steven Burton Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Coleman. He was raised in Beckley, W.Va. In 1965, he received his special order for the U.S. Army and was sent to Vietnam. After one year of service in the Macon Delta, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service in the Republic of Vietnam. In 1971, he was honorably discharged with decorations with National Defense Service Medal, Mechanical Badge wBar, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Badge Rifle M14 and Army Commendation Medal. Upon his return from Vietnam, Earl married Drema Richmond Sept. 28, 1967 later divorced and, together, they had three sons, Joseph Steven Burton, Kelly Steven Burton and Daniel Steven Burton. After his discharge he moved his family to Las Vegas, where he would call home. He joined the Local 501 and went to work for the Union Plaza, where he turned out as a journeyman engineer. Earl was assistant chief at Union Plaza, Ballys and then opened the MGM Grand, where he became the executive director of faculties until he retired. When he was at the Union Plaza, he met his soulmate, Michelle, and together they traveled to Europe, Alaska, Canada, and Hawaii. Earl loved to go hunting with his sons and grandsons, he looked forward to getting tags so they could all be together in the outdoors. During football season, he was always at Joeys watching football rooting for his Raiders to win. He really enjoyed spending time with his boys. Earl was preceded in death by his sisters, Harlene Baily and Barbara Ketchersid and his parents. He is survived by his soulmate, Michelle sons, Joseph Steven Burton, Kelly Steven Burton, Melanie and Daniel Steven Kacie Burton grandson, Mathew Steven Burton granddaughters, Madison Drema Burton and Karis Drema Burtion. Services for Earl will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
