Earl Kenneth Jones

Earl Kenneth Jones, age 55, passed away Friday August  28, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Earl (Ken to his family and friends) was born on April 12, 1965 to Earl and Olivia Jones at the Davis Monthan Air Force base in Tucson, AZ.  After living in a number of places Ken spent his Junior High and High School years in the Chicago area. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Hazelcrest,  Illinois. He then attended Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor Michigan before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ken worked for the Clark County School District for 25 years. First as a bus driver, and then in the Grounds  Department, and most recently as a sprinkler equipment technician. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 14.

On October 8, 2010 Ken married Mary Coxson and became a stepfather to her three children. He was extremely well versed in subjects ranging from philosophy and religion to politics and history. Being a ferocious reader he had a special fondness for comic books, and enjoyed working at Cosmic Comics here in Las Vegas for a number of years.  Ken loved animals, going to the movies, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor, and for having a heart of gold.

Ken is survived by: his wife Mary, his stepchildren Carissa(David), Chandler, and Camden. His mother Olivia, sister Victoria, nephew Joshua, niece Jessica, stepmother Irene, grandchildren Grayson, Harper, and Asher.

He is preceded in death by his father Earl.

There will be a graveside service in Nevada, Iowa. The date is yet to be determined. Also a Celebration of Life in Las Vegas held at a future time due to the current state of Covid 19.

Memorials may be made to The Gift of Reading. The website is spreadthewordnevada.org This is a literacy program for at risk children in the CCSD.
