Retired Earl William Laird Jr. was born May 10, 1948, in Chula Vista, Calif., to the late Earl William and Bettye Elva Laird. Earl, or Bill as he was better known, was a career Air Force man, serving proudly for over 25 years as a C130 aircraft loadmaster, during the Vietnam and Gulf wars. He then joined the ranks of casino security upon moving to Henderson in the early 90s. After his military retirement, he worked at the Dunes Casino and then the Skyline Casino, where, for the past nine years, he served as chief of security. He was preceded in death by his parents and one of his siblings, his sister, Penny DeLong. Bill is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Lovella Jean Laird his daughter, Brenda Jean his sister, Bettye Jeanne Crews and a host of close inlaw, nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Visitation will be noon1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119. Graveside services will follow at Davis Memorial Park.
