Eden Marie Johnson, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away from Breast Cancer on July 18 2020, in the Henderson Hospital in Nevada after a 5 year battle with the disease.
Eden was born in Elko, Nevada on April 13, 1970.
Eden and her brother Shawn were both adopted by Neil and Merian and lived in Las Vegas, NV. Eden had fun telling people that she and her brother were only 8 months apart in age. Everyone would really wonder how that was possible.
Eden attended Elementary and Junior High in Las Vegas and then attended Valley High School in Las Vegas where her mother taught English. She had many memories of attending the same high school where her mother taught. She attended college at Southern Utah University (SUU) in Cedar City, Utah and received an Associates degree. She loved her classes of Dance and Choreography.
She moved to California to pursue a career in acting and dance. She worked for the television show, In Living Color, as an intern, and after some unwanted advances decided that the acting profession wasn’t for her. She stayed in Los Angeles, working at various jobs, and became a paramedic with the Los Angeles fire department, until she was mugged in a shopping mall parking garage. When they found the man that attacked her - he was unconscious near her car. She had really walloped him - broken several bones. He filed charges against her, but the judge laughed him out of court. She was known for this incident. When she returned to college at SUU, one of the sergeants from LA had moved there and saw her at church and remembered her.
While attending SUU Eden married Jonathan Russell and together, in 1995, they had a daughter and named her Brenna Marie. They were later divorced in 1996.
Five years later, in 2000, she met, married, and was sealed for eternity in the Las Vegas temple to Jared Johnson. Together they moved to Mesa, Arizona where they had a son in 2002 and named him Hayden Wallace.
She moved back to Las Vegas with her new little family, against her wishes, where Jared’s work took them.
Eden had many talents and loved to share them with others. She enjoyed supporting the Cinderella Scholarship Beauty Pageants and helping young women participate and build self esteem, social skills, and personal talents. She enjoyed working in the wedding industry as a wedding planner and designer. She helped many clients turn their dream weddings into reality through several businesses that she owned and operated herself. Her last endeavor was photography. She absolutely loved taking pictures and working with her best friend Patti Patterson. They started Cacklenannies© Artistic Imaging together in late 2019.
Eden is preceded in death by her Father - Cornelius (Neil) Murphy (2004) and her Mother - Merian (Anderson) Murphy (2019). She is survived by her brother Shawn (and wife - Crysti) Murphy, her husband Jared Johnson, her daughter Brenna Marie Russell, and her son Hayden Wallace Johnson.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private family services will be held on Saturday, August 1st, 2020. The memorial service will be broadcast live via an online meeting. Eden will be honored at the Johnson home that day from 1pm to 6pm where friends and acquaintances can stop by to pay their respects. The burial will be in the Manti, UT Cemetery at a future date.
The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Stephanie Christensen and the staff at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, Family Members, Friends, and The Palm Canyon Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
