Edith Maxine McCutcheon, 97, of Las Vegas, Nevada, transitioned on April 8, 2019 in her home in Las Vegas.
Edith was born in Laurel, Mississippi on November 18, 1921.
She was married and dedicated to Clarence McCutcheon, the love of her life, and the two of them built their lives in San Francisco. From this union came five children, one daughter, Rahimah, and four sons, Raymond, Michael, Robert (Bobby) and the baby, Kenneth.
Edith worked as housekeeper in the hotel industry and worked her way up to management before retiring after over 25 years of service. She was a faithful member of El Bethel Baptist Church in San Francisco for over 40 years, even after relocating to Las Vegas. Upon moving to Las Vegas, Edith became a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
One of the things she looked forward to most on Sundays was dressing up. Edith had a hat for every outfit and a bag to match - her passion for fashion brought joy to those she encountered. When she wasn't dressed to the nines you could find her in an apron preparing one of her famous meals. She and Clarence loved to entertain and were known for hosting barbeques whether for holidays, or tailgates to cheer on their beloved San Francisco 49ers. They were season ticket holders and going to games was something Edith and Clarence enjoyed doing together for many years.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence McCutcheon.
Edith is survived by her children, Rahimah, Raymond, Michael, Bobby, and Kenneth; eight grandchildren Ahkeer, Ahki, Karriem, Nneka, Omar, Robert, Tia, and DeQuan; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Ahmad, Omar, Kazuri, Zoe, Alaina, Saniyah, Lucien, Naila, Amina, Nadia, Nasir, Jawanza, John, and Kennedy, and a host of friends and other family members, including Brenda McCutcheon, her daughter in law.
The family would also like to extend sincere thanks to Michelle Perry who took great care of Edith with love and dignity and her friend Kay Logan who was a frequent visitor and companion to Edith.
