Biographical Information: Edwards Father is Giles Wright Mead and Mother is Violet Mae Fisher. He had 2 older sisters and 3 younger brothers. He succeeded in all the endeavors he started. He worked from time he was very young until he was 81 years old. Edward set a track and field record in Los Angeles, California at Polytechnic High School in the 1320 yard dash in 1939. This track record stood for 25 years. He graduated in 1940 with five hundred students.
On February 26, 1940 he joined the 160th Infantry of the California National Guard Medics. In June of 1940 he stared working for Lockheed Aircraft making 51 cents an hour. He spent many years working at Lockheed Aircraft. On September 7, 1941 he married Beverly McKinley in Yuma, Arizona and had 2 children, Johnny and Susan. He joined the Air Force in 1943. He became a navigator on June 9, 1945 and received his wings and commission. He then received an honorable discharge in 1945.
On July 6, 1946, he married Peggy Young and had 3 children, Sharon, Skip, and Sandy. Edward moved to Las Vegas in December of 1946.
He worked as a shill at the Pioneer Club. He again enlisted in the Air Force in 1948 and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. In 1951 He worked Civil Service at Nellis as a Stock Control Officer in Base Supply and retired on January 7, 1982.
Counting his enlisted time, he worked 38 years for the government. He then married Rebecca Null. From 1982 to 1996 he worked for EM Industrial and from 1997 to 2004 he worked at McFadden Hardware. Edward and Becky moved on March 18, 2006 to North Vernon, Indiana where he enjoyed his retirement.
