Longtime Las Vegas resident, Ephin Anthony Ursin, passed away October 2, 2011 at the age of 96.
Born June 14, 1915 in New Orleans, Louisiana, he started working at Hibernia Bank at the age of 14. Soon thereafter, he toured with a group of musicians, including Bob Crosby and the Bobcats.
At age 28, Ephin moved to Washington D.C. and he spent the next 16 years working for the FBI. During this time, he met his beloved wife, Helen. He and his wife eventually moved back to Louisiana, where he managed a number of drivein movie theatres in Baton Rouge. The couple came to Las Vegas in 1969, and Ephin worked as a security guard at the Riviera until his retirement in 1980.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, Ephin was a kind, goodhumored man who made friends everywhere he went. An incredibly hard worker and oneofakind handyman, he was always active, even up until the last few weeks of his life.
He is survived by Helen, his wife of 68 years, sons Rodney wife Denise and Gregory, and two grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Gabriel Byzantine Catholic Church, 2250 E. Maule Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89119.
