Erika Michelle Landeros, age 37, of Las Vegas passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Erika was born on December 4, 1984, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada to Rosalinda Landeros.
Though Erika’s life on earth was short, she touched so many people in so many ways. Erika was born with a rare condition that challenged her mentally and physically. Yet, she overcame many obstacles and learned to communicate using sign language and make the most of her limitations. Erika truly was an example of pure love, pure goodness, pure innocence, and pure joyfulness.
While her voice was silent her emotions spoke loudly of her acceptance and love for all. Erika enjoyed her life with family, friends, and all kinds of food. Erika’s greatest joy was time spent with her mother. Linda gave fully and completely of herself to provide Erika with the best life possible.
Erika especially loved her music, her babies (stuffed animals), her comfy pillows and blankets, her silky soft pajamas, the special touch of her mom’s hands as she moisturized her skin, and their frequent lunch outings to Panda Express. Erika especially loved those noodles!
Erika had a lovely and contagious laugh that made everyone take note and join in. Erika would make her presence known by moving through the crowd to ensure everyone knew she had arrived and that she was happy to see them. In her younger years, Erika loved her summertime trips to Wet ‘N’ Wild water park, however, it was always a challenge to pull her away when the day had ended. Erika loved to play tricks on family and is most notably known for her insistence on getting the first bite of the birthday cake no matter whose birthday it was!
Erika loved her caretakers! She especially loved the festive and elaborate holiday preparations and meals that were lovingly prepared by Marli. Erika’s laughter would fill the room as she would play tug-of-war with Lisa and other staff. She would especially enjoy their water fights! Erika would carry her music player (gifted by her caretakers) everywhere and listen all day long to her favorite 80’s and 90’s era songs.
Erika’s shinning smile and special laugh will live forever in our hearts. We find peace in knowing that Erika is in heaven where she has been freed from all infirmities, her body has been made new, and she is now dancing, singing, and praising her Lord. We love you Erika and will be with you soon!
Erika is preceded in death by her Grandfather Pablo Landeros and her Aunt Gloria Landeros.
Erika is survived by her Mother Rosalinda and her Brother Mark Jr., Grandmother Amelia Landeros, Uncle Paul, Aunt Martha, Aunt Anita, Aunt Amelia “Tinnee”, Aunt Jasmine, Aunt Dianne,
Aunt Jackie and many uncles and cousins.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the compassionate, caring, and loving group home staff who gave generously, kindly, and humbly of themselves. With special thanks to Jessica, Marli, Lisa, and roommate Tara.
