Ernest Isaac Fisher Jr.

SFC ERNEST FISHER JR. U.S. Army, Retired SFC Ernest I. Fisher Jr., U.S. Army (ret.), 59, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 4, 2016. He was born Feb. 11, 1956, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Ernest I. and Lavina Fisher Sr. Ernest went to Yale on a basketball scholarship, owned a vegetarian restaurant and worked for John Hancock before joining the U.S. Army at the age of 33 and serving for 26 before retiring in 2015. Ernest loved being a grandpa and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife, of six years, Tammy Fisher; mother, Lavina Fisher; children, Chelsea, Ernest III and Jennifer; grandsons, Caleb and Deyson; four sisters, Glynis, Dawn, Rachel and Barbara; and three brothers, Andre, Nicholas and Chipper. Viewing will be noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, with service following, both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Inurnment will be at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
