Forrest Wayne Crane of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 after a brief illness.
Wayne, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was born on October 17, 1935, in Trinidad, Colorado to Laurence Earl and Dorothy May Popejoy Crane. He was raised on the Crane Ranch in Stonewall, Colorado, before moving to Denver and later Olathe, Colorado.
After graduating from Olathe High School in 1954, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Wayne was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. His distinguished military career was spent on helicopters. He was honorably discharged in 1976.
He married Alice J. George on July 7, 1957 at his mothers home in Olathe, Colorado. Their tours of duty took them all over the world. They have made their home in Las Vegas, since 1970.
After obtaining a degree from Clark County Community College, Wayne pursued another career in the Safety and Health field. He was widely respected for his work, most recently consulting for Keystone International.
Wayne loved traveling and participating in his grandchildrens activities. He was their biggest fan and mentor.
Wayne was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice, son Lawrence, wife Jennifer, grandchildren Cody and Sabrina Crane and daughter Jennifer, husband Jack, grandchildren Briana and Cary Coons one sister, Carol Hoadley of Montrose, CO and a halfbrother Dan Westesen of Olathe, Colorado.
A military service will be held, Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at 9:20 a.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV.
In leiu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association, In Memory of Forrest Wayne Crane Fund
