Frances Ruth MacDonald, 92, passed away January 8, 2017, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. Frances was born in Philadelphia to Fred and Edith MacDonald. She married Richard and moved from Philadelphia to Las Vegas in 1959. In 1964, the family moved to Honolulu, where they lived for 20 years. In Hawaii, she started MacDonald and Associates Realty with her husband and eldest son, Richard, and, in the early 1970s, began buying Las Vegas real estate, becoming one of the largest private land owners in the Las Vegas area. In the 1980s, she moved with her family to Las Vegas and was one of the owners of MacDonald Ranch in Henderson. Frances was very social, attending numerous charity events and functions. Her private parties were filled with celebrities from the Las Vegas Strip and people from all walks of life. Her parties are still remembered by the hundreds of people who attended them in her Turnbury penthouse overlooking the Strip. Frances was always the life of the party, insuring that her guests would have a good time. In later years when immobile, she supported various charitable foundations protecting dogs and horses and contributed to many animal protection causes. Frances was preceded in death by her husband and partner, Richard MacDonald Sr. Frances is survived by her two sons, Richard C. MacDonald (Claire) and Doug MacDonald (Eva); grandchildren, Douglas MacDonald (Danielle), Nicole MacDonald and Paige MacDonald (Leo Moschioni); and great grandchildren, Christopher Bailey, Rochelle Tucker, Sabrina Tucker, Ricky MacDonald and Dominic MacDonald. Frances was always supportive of her family and, in later years, focused on spending more time with them. Memorial service will be at 2:00PM-5:00PM., Monday, January 30, 2017 with Eulogy at 4:00PM., both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Frances will be missed by all who knew her.
