Francine Handshew

February 3, 1944 — July 16, 2020

Francine Handshew passed away on July 16, 2020 in her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Francine was born on February 3, 1944 to George and Jean Jumper of Boiling Springs, PA.

Francine is survived by her sister, Patricia Kiehl of Peoria, Arizona, brother, Leslie Jumper, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and daughters Jennifer Handshew of Portland, Oregon, and Jill Manning of Chicago, Illinois.

Francine graduated from Boiling Springs High School in Pennsylvania, where she was a cheerleader with her sister Patsy.  After graduating, she married David Handshew of Carlisle, Pennsylvania on December 9, 1962. The two were married for 26 years, during which time, they with their two daughters lived and traveled throughout the US and Europe, as David was a member of the Air Force.

Francine attended medical assisting school in the early 1990s and worked for several medical offices in California. Most recently, she worked for Williams-Sonoma/Pottery Barn as a customer service rep at their call center in Las Vegas.

Some of her favorite things were Barry Manilow music (she was a Fanilow!), collecting unique and vintage cookie jars, watching the Dodgers play and having Martha Stewart-inspired holidays.  She was a cook and kept the tradition of Pennsylvania Dutch-style cooking, but was never afraid to experiment with different cuisines including Greek fare.

Due to the coronavirus, there will be no memorial service. The family will be hosting their own, private, virtual service. You are welcome to share your memories and condolences on the tribute wall (tab above).
