Frederick Hesse Stitt, Junior, 62, of Las Vegas, Nevada, beloved son, brother, and uncle, died on October 26, 2020. He was born in the Chicago area on March 18, 1958, the fourth child and first son to Frederick H. and Adena Helen Stitt (nee Fitzgerald). He was raised in Evanston, IL, where he attended Evanston Township High School. He earned a degree in computer science at Kendall College.
He is survived by his mother, Adena Metcalfe; his siblings, Rebecca Hudecek (Paul), Mary Weeks (Steve), Barbara Mistele (Charles), Joyce Austin, Kathryn Bass (Joel); David Peyton (Chanin), and Jeff Peyton (Colleen); and his 12 nieces and nephews.
Fred had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was unfailingly generous with whatever he had to give. A proud and adoring uncle, he never missed the opportunity to send a birthday card or gift. As a brother, he always strove to cherish and protect his sisters and give good advice to his step-brothers and brothers-in-law. He will be deeply missed by his mother, with whom he shared a special bond and to whom he frequently leant support and care.
Fred struggled with addiction, and he was grateful for and impassioned about the support he received through 12-step programs. He served as a sponsor for many fellow souls facing similar challenges, and he played a powerful role in supporting the recovery of many others who shared his difficult path.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Salvation Army, an organization that was critical to him in his recovery and there for him in hours of need.
