Fredrick D. Smith, of North Las Vegas, passed away July 31, 2016. He was born Jan. 18, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo., and was a resident of Nevada since September 1993. He was a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a retired information technology manager for Scott Paper. He married Carolyn Williamson Aug. 30, 1980, in Willingboro, N.J., was an avid NASCAR fan, a member of the Motor Transport Association for the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the First Marine Division. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Smith; sons, Dean T. Smith, Daniel B. (Janet) Smith and David W. (Valorie) Szlemko Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer Nichole Smith, Jonathan R. Smith and Jacquelyn L. Smith; and great-granddaughter, Aria D. Daniels. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Funeral service, with military honors will be at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
