Gary W. Garrison, 74, of Las Vegas, NV passed away suddenly Saturday, October 29, 2022.  He was born July 24, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas. Gary moved to Las Vegas Nevada when he was 14. He was a 60-year resident of Las Vegas Nevada. Gary loved sports. He was an athlete and a sports enthusiast. If he wasn’t playing sports, he was watching sports.

Gary graduated with honors from Western high school and then went on to the University of Wyoming on a baseball/football full scholarship.

After college Gary returned to Las Vegas and began working in the insurance business for a short time before he started his career in the casino industry. Gary began as a dealer in 1974 at the Horseshoe hotel and casino and went on to the MGM Grand in 1975 for its opening.  Gary continued to move up from dealer to floor man, to pit boss, to shift manager and then onto executive casino host in the finest hotel-casinos in Las Vegas. He loved his work and built great friendships with his players and his coworkers.

Gary‘s lifelong passion was sports especially baseball, golf and fishing in Alaska. He was a player, a coach, and a fan.

While Gary’s passion was sports, his greatest love was his son Gregory and his family and friends.

Gary is predeceased by his parents Nolan (Bud) and Cora. Gary is survived by his son, Gregory (Rebecca) and his partner, Sheila. He’s also survived by many family members of Texas and Louisiana, his extended family of Las Vegas and across the United States and abroad, and many dear friends.   Gary also leaves behind his “two best doggies in the world”, Malibu and Huckleberry.
