Gary Thomas O'Donnell

Gary T. ODonnell, of Las Vegas, passed away December 18, 2013. He was born in Buhl, Minnesota on November 3, 1932. His family moved from Minnesota to Houston, Texas, in 1949. After graduating from Houstons Lamar High School he attended Rice University and the University of Houston where he graduated in 1954. While attending Rice University he met and married the love of his life, Annice Compton Arnold. Gary and Annice celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June.

Garys passion for life was a driving force that kept him going despite numerous illnesses and health concerns over those past few years. Gary was a home builder throughout his life. He began his professional home building career in Houston with ODonnell Construction Company and then began working in the San Antonio and Austin area for Ray Ellison Homes. He then created ODonnell Homes in Austin, and in the 1980s he moved to Las Vegas so that he could manage the construction side of Pardee Homes in the Vegas Valley.

Gary will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His passion for life was only overshadowed by his passion for family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annice, his children Carel Carter, Lori Sarabyn, Cindy Carmine, and Tom ODonnell. Spouses of Garys children include Bruce Carter, Mike Sarabyn, Ben Carmine, and Brenda ODonnell. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Liberty Lawson, Jeremy Lawson, Lindsay Lawson, Chris Carter, Carl Carter, Andrea Carter, Thomas Carmine, Shannon LeConey, Kasey ODonnell, Kaylee ODonnell, Gary ODonnell, Lexas Legge, Steven Legge, and Mackenzie Carter.

Las Vegas services will be held January 18th at 10:00 a. m. at Davis Mortuary, 6200 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas. A Celebration of Life will be held after the services at the home of his daughter, Carel Carter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at:
