George Fratus, 72, beloved Husband, Father, Son, and Brother, passed away on December 6, 2024. He entered this world on August 24, 1952, in Providence, RI, born to Leo and Carmela Fratus. He is survived by his wife Carol Fratus; daughter Ashley Fratus; mother Carmela Fratus; sister Cleo Anderson; brother Robert Fratus; sister Sharon Gentry; and sister Shirley Broccoli.
George graduated high school from La Salle Academy in 1971. He went on to earn an Associate Degree of Science in Chemistry from Rhode Island College and a Bachelor's of Science in Business Management from Southern New Hampshire University.
After twenty-six years of dedicated service George retired from UNLV in Summer 2023. Those of you who knew him personally will not be surprised by the fact that he continued to work part time until the very end.
George was a deeply loved father, husband, uncle, brother, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected but quick, as he wanted it to be.
While we lost the most beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor, and even a glorious pain in the neck. There was so much more to him than just being a dad, though to us that was his greatest roll - he was also a friend, a coworker and colleague, brother, handyman extraordinaire, barn dad, avid supporter of the 2nd Amendment, dog park regular (with Eleanor and Grand-dog Waverly), and the list goes on and on.
To honor George's memory, we invite you all to share pictures and memories.
