George Anthony Hurley, 90, died Saturday July 9th 2016 peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones.
George was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI to Anthony and Veda Hurley. He served in the Air Force in World War II, upon return he was introduced to his wife of 65 years by a family friend. They were married in 1951 at St Michaels church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1966 George moved his family to Las Vegas, where he lived out the rest of his life.
George was a lively character who loved to tell stories, he also had a knack for talking to everybody in the room. One of his greatest passions in life was playing chess. George was known to bring his chess board everywhere hoping to find an opponent to play a friendly game. In his free time George was an avid stamp collector and card player.
He leaves behind his wife Lois Hurley; his sons Tom Hurley (Colette) Richard Hurley (Norma) and Ray Hurley. His daughters Patty Fulbright (Sherman) Linda Clark, Susie Ruskowitz (Dave) Teresa Worpell (Keith) Ann Lehner (Dieter) Sandy Cornwall (Randy) and Sherry Stoltz (Rob). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 23 great grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Jim Hurley, daughter Mary, son Donald and grandson Gregory.
A viewing will be held July 13th at 11 am until 11:45 followed by a funeral mass at 12pm at St. John Nuemann Catholic Church, 2575 W. El Campo Grande Ave. North Las Vegas 89131
Military burial will be September 2, 2016 at 11 am at Davis Funeral Home 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas 89119
