Gerald D. (Jerry) Arbogast 78 formerly of Champion, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, NV of COVID 19. He was born on October 29, 1941, in Warren Ohio to Hobert E. and Gertrude Davies Arbogast who proceeded him in death.
Jerry graduated from Chalker High School, class of 1959, were he played trumpet in the regular band and the marching band. Jerry played “Taps” at many Memorial Day Celebrations at Pineview Cemetery. Upon graduation he worked as a sign painter. While working with Kerr signs he learned letting, background painting, wall painting and gold leaf glass letting along with many other aspects of the sign business. Jerry started his own sign business painting trucks for business like Coca Cola and other national busines. Jerry never one to be still for long began a new construction company Advance Const. with his family to boost income. Jerry was a part of building many homes and commercial doctors offices, dentist offices and lawyers offices. Jerry also built all of the Custom sounds stores including the “Super Store on Youngstown Rd. Jerry and Larry Brown owner of Custom Sound also hand their hands in many other businesses together. On September 2, 1966 Jerry started to work at Packard Electric. He was active in IUE Local 717 where he served in numerous union positions, including twice as a member of the local and national bargaining committee. Jerry retired from Packard in 1999 after 32 years of service.
After retirement, Jerry, and his wife Wendy H. Arbogast moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to enjoy their retirement. Once settled in Las Vegas, Jerry established Top Trim of Las Vegas, a Finish carpentry company which he operated until his death. Jerry loved his carpentry work. His church, and most of all his family. Jerry was a devoted member to the Green Valley United Methodist Church serving on many committees and was an active member.
In addition to his wife of 47 years Wendy H. Arbogast. Jerry is survived by daughters Karen, Danielle, Audria, Alexandra, and a son Anthony. Eight grandchildren, Jessica, Mathew, Emma, Antonio, Coraleen, Alexandria, Joseph, Jenna, and three great-grandchildren. Brothers Thomas and Donald both of Southington Ohio and sisters Lori of Vienna Ohio and Linda of Warren Ohio. Rick Dielilah who was like a son to Jerry. Who will continue to operate Top Trim of Las Vegas.
Jerry was a man of service and served his community. The elderly for free never turned anyone down. He is with our Savior now forever surrounded by those he loved and watching those left to morn this great man.
