GLENN V. GILES, 80, passed away on November 12, 2015, unexpectedly of cardiac arrest while visiting the Island of Hawaii. He was born on January 29, 1935 in Fillmore, Utah to Forest and Vivian Giles. The family later moved to Bluffdale, Utah where he spent his youth. Glenn graduated from Jordan High School in 1953 and later moved to Las Vegas where he resided the remainder of his life. He married Florentina (Tena) Rodriguez in 1955 and they had two daughters, Patti and Theresa.
Glenn began his banking career with First National Bank in 1954. He was devoted to the community in which he lived and was heavily involved in business as well as many volunteer and civic organizations. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Optimists Club, and was past President of the Clark County Muscular Dystrophy Chapter. He retired in 1991 from Wells Fargo and continued service and volunteer work in the Master Gardener Program.
Along the way, he met and married wife Rosetta in 1971, his best friend and companion and together they enjoyed a very happy and special relationship. Glenn's family was very special to him, especially the little people, his reference to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of much happiness. He was devoted to his family and loved them dearly as did they in return. Dad was a source of inspiration and strength to those who loved and knew him and he was a truly good man. He will be sadly and deeply missed.
Glenn is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rosetta; parents, Vivian and Forest Giles; brothers, Leroy, Larry and Paul Giles; and sister, Norma Nielsen.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Silcox; daughters, Patti Taylor and Theresa Cornwell (Joseph); stepdaughter, Daneen Petty; stepsons, Merlin Bryce and Brett Petty; grand-children, Kyler (Christine), Lane (Desiree) and Garen (Venus), Jared, Kellin, Logan, Nushina (Tony), Arwen (Billy), Curtis, Corey, Cyler, Crista, Cheyenne, and great-grandchildren Asheton, Paige, Jessamina, Greyson, Zaden, Braden, Bebe, Tori, Summer, Riley, Winter, Bradley and Jericho; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
There will be a visitation at Davis Funeral Home 6200 S Eastern Ave on Sunday, November 22 from 3 -5 pm. Funeral services will take place at Davis Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 6200 S Eastern Ave on Monday, November 23, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy or American Heart Association.
