Gloria Marie Lopez 68, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on February 21, 2020.
She was born to parents; John Jimenez and Herminia Jimenez, on 10/13/1951 in Anton, Texas.
Gloria’s father was a sheep shearer and they traveled all over the Southwest for work. Gloria grew up in Texas, Oregon and settled in California in the mid 60’s. Gloria was the oldest daughter out of family of 7 children: Emmitt, John, {Gloria}, {Tony}, Juanita, Lulu and Richard.
From a young age, she developed the natural gift of caregiving for her family. Gloria was forever present when needed. Never complained. Never faltered. Never let anyone down. She always had warm gentle hugs to give and a beautiful smile every single day to every person that may have needed it. You need a dollar; she gave you her last one. You need shoes, she gave hers. Her heart was pure and wholesome. Gloria’s Hispanic/Apache complexion was flawless, and her long flowing dark hair was a trademark to many.
Gloria met the very young & handsome John G. Lopez, Sr. in 1965. They started their 52-year journey and were married on March 17, 1967 in San Jose, CA at the local Court
House. Together they raised 3 amazing children: John Jr, Andrew & Lorraine. In 1998 she lost her son; Andrew to Leukemia at the young age of 28. She pulled herself up from the deepest darkest days that anyone can ever imagine and continue to care for her family while selflessly tucking her incredible sadness deep inside a safe place in her heart. This was the epitome of Gloria ~ selfless.
Gloria worked as an Electronics Materials Handler for many years before retiring in 2013. She eventually moved to Henderson, NV in 2016. She enjoyed Cooking, visiting with family, watching her grandchildren play and grow. She traveled on an airplane only one time: Hilo, Hawaii in 2014. The ultimate sacrifice ended up being her ultimate, most prized vacation.
Gloria is survived by Mother – Herminia 92, Spouse – John Sr. 72, Son - John Jr 52, Daughter - Lorraine 45, 9 Grandchildren @ 8 1/2 Great Grandchildren.
Gloria
She polishes the sun by day, lights the stars that shine at night and keeps the moonbeams silvery bright. Mothers really never die. They just ‘keep house up in the sky’ and in the Heavenly Home Above, they wait to ‘welcome home’ those they love.
